Devin Brown, a local KC painter will be displaying his work at H2B architects, inc. on August First Friday. Devin's paintings are vibrant and colorful, reflecting his personality and joy of life. His works have been described as whimsical and fun, but at the same time deep and thought provoking. His style is unique in his use of tone and color. Gouache, an opaque watercolor, is his medium of choice to bring vibrancy and richness he sees in life to his paintings. In addition, works in oil and traditional watercolor will also be on display.
Bailey Jo Mills will have her artwork on display at H2B architects, inc. on First Friday. Bailey is an 18 year old graduate of Truman High School. Dave is a muralist, writer, and printmaker based in Lawrence, Kansas. In addtion to his more than twenty public works in Kansas, examples of his dynamic community-based murals can be found across the United States and Ireland. Dave's stencil prints, which focus on current social and political issues are exhibited nationally and are in permanent collections of the New York Public Library and the Center for the Study of Political Graphics in Los Angeles. Dave is currenlty working with Joplin residents on a series of public pieces that try to re-capture a sense of place and belonging after the storm. Please join us for our 2011 First Friday Kick Off. We are pleased to have Ben Daniels showing his work this coming Friday, May 6, 2011. Ben is a 17 year old student at Blue Valley South West High School. He is raising money for the environment, our forests, and wildlife with his unique pen and ink detailed drawings of nature and wildlife with hidden words within his art. In 2007 he won 1st place in the contest to be presented on the front cover of the Free Fall magazine. In 2008 his artwork entitled "We are all connected" was chosen as a finalist in a national competition. His work was displayed in Washington DC and put in the 2009 Celebrate Will Salmon Calendar. He's given speeches on the environment, helped pass environmental bills because of his work with Kansas House Representatives.
