FAIRWAY RESIDENCE H2B architects was asked to redesign an existing 1950s ranch-style home to include a “family centered” kitchen and great room for a young family that is constantly on the move. The original kitchen was a narrow and enclosed galley-style space. The concept behind the renovation was to mimic that space by utilizing all corners of the room – without the use of walls. The result is a 17’ long bar that is functional from all sides. With two small children, the bar provides room to dine and complete homework centrally within the house. This space has become the nucleus of the home, with every other event radiating from this space. |
